How We Shipped a DocuSign Builder in 3 Days
This is the story of one of our tightest delivery windows - a production document builder with e-signature and notary integration, from zero to deployed in about 18 hours of work across 3 days.
The ask
A music industry client needed to streamline their document workflow. Templates, e-signatures via DocuSign, and notarization through OneNotary.us - all in one system. And they needed it fast.
Day 1: Scope and architecture
We spent the first 2 hours mapping the exact workflow: who creates templates, who fills them out, what fields are dynamic, where signatures go, and how the notary handoff works.
Architecture decisions were made fast: AWS backend for reliability, React frontend for speed of development, and direct API integrations with DocuSign and OneNotary.
Day 2: Build
This was the longest day - about 10 hours of focused development. Template builder with drag-and-drop fields, DocuSign envelope creation and webhook handling, and the notary integration flow.
Day 3: Polish and deploy
Final 6 hours: edge case handling, error states, production deployment, and a walkthrough with the client's team.
Why it worked
- •Tight scope - we knew exactly what to build before writing code
- •No committee - one decision-maker on the client side, fast approvals
- •Proven patterns - we've built similar integrations before, so we weren't figuring things out as we went
The result
The PM called it out specifically for quality, speed, and reliability. The system is still in production handling their document workflow daily.
